The final Masters athletics meeting of 2024, and my last outdoor event as an M60 athlete, saw me travel with Trevor Hodgson and a group of fellow North East Masters athletes to Corby for a showdown against other regions across the UK. It was a day full of competition, camaraderie, and a bit of friendly banter, everything you hope for in an end of season event.
Trevor and I managed to secure a couple of wins, bagging maximum team points in the 100m and 200m, respectively. I also chipped in with a 3rd place finish in the 100m and a 5th place in the 400m, doing my bit to help our team. Kudos to everyone else on their performances some really strong runs across the board!
But it wasn’t just about the races. The day was also about catching up with familiar faces, old rivals, and friends from the Masters community. There’s a special bond we all share, and it makes days like this even more memorable. Commentary Donald Brown was at the heart of it all, adding his signature energy and flair to the proceedings, making sure everyone stayed motivated and entertained.
Now, with the outdoor season behind me, it’s time for some much needed reflection and rest. The track can wait a little while as I switch gears and prepare for the winter training block ahead of the 2025 season and a brand new age category!
