Is a well-known proverb from the Robert Burns poem ‘To a Mouse’ that I can resonate with right now, after the unfortunate altercation I had with the track on 22nd December.
My tumble has brought my ‘best-laid’ training plans to an abrupt halt this week due to a problem with sore ribs. However, rather than getting upset by this I prefer to look on the bright side. I got to spend the entire festive period with my family eating, drinking, dog walking, and taking delivery of a new car, which was all very pleasant.
Of course, from a training perspective it has been frustrating, but again the positives are that my body gets to rest completely for a little while, and those small niggles that we just accept and train through finally get a chance to sort themselves out.
Also, my winter training had been going well up to that point and if anything, I was starting to get ahead of the schedule and tempted to run too fast too soon. So maybe this happened for a reason and will help me rest and reset my training schedule ahead of Torun.
That’s all for now, be of good cheer!!
Until next time …
